Beginnings
During NaPoWriMo 2011, my muse began to dry up so I started creating wordles for myself, and offered them to other poets. It surprised me how many poets responded, and A Wordling Whirl of Sundays was born on blogger. For a series of reasons I moved to WordPress, and changed the blog name to The Sunday Whirl because it’s not such a mouthful.
Nitty Gritty
To participate, write a poem or short prose using some or all of the wordle words. Forms of the words are fine. Challenge yourself to use them all, but it is not a requirement. A wordle will be posted every Sunday at 12:01 a.m. Mountain Standard Time. Mister Linky will accept your posts. You have all week to write and visit other pieces inspired by the words.
FYI–The Sunday Whirl no longer has a Facebook page. I received an abusive private message from one of you, and deleted it.
May peace prevail.
Brenda
This is new to me. Another idea for inspiration is always welcomed! Thanks, I’ll give it a shot! π
Oops, I think I linked to the wrong Mr. Linky. Here is this week’s poem: https://judydykstrabrown.com/2021/08/06/august-1-2021-sunday-whirl-wordle/
Not seen you for a while… hope you are okay?
Hi. I was looking for a FOLLOW button somewhere. I see one down in the bottom corner now, but perhaps you should install one by your “Follow on Facebook” button?
Do you recommend a tag for ‘The Sunday Whirl’? (Maybe ‘TSW’? or ‘wordle’?).
Just wondering….
Have joined the ranks!
I’d love to try this! I came across Sunday Whirl from a fellow poet at dVerse. I’ll be back!
*Snooping commences* π
Hi, I’ve used one of your wordles before but thought it was posted by Yves from MLMM. She gave me your address so that I could link properly. Looking forward to participating whenever I can.
Welcome!
I want in!! Not realizing you were on hiatus, I did one or 2–but now I’ll follow you so that I can participate properly. Looking forward to your return!
I’d love to try this! I don’t know how consistent I would be but I think it would be interesting reading the creations of others!
Nice idea π
PS typo alert
“… the words of
particpatingparticipating poets…”I would like to Join π
Thank You
I just wanted to say that I love your wordles, even though I’m an on again off again wordler. π
How fun! And I love your name. π I’m new, but I’m game to give it a whirl. Just FYI, I write for kids on my site, kids of all ages, but that does mean I hold to certain content restrictions. I look forward to playing around with this week’s words.
This looks exciting. I would love to link up this week if time allows. At the very least, I will enjoy other writers’ takes on The Whirl.
I’ve seen this “Sunday Whirl” on so many of my fellow bloggers at dVerse…decided to drop by. A very nice site–I hope I can join you from time-to-time, Brenda. I love random word prompt like wordles and also use them when I’m stuck.
It’s my first time to be here. π
So HOW you I link a post from my blog to yours? Alsfo, I am not sure what happens if I click on your link on the home page.
how fun!!! I found this on Inger’s blog, which is always full of beautiful poetry and images… Cannot wait to join the fun!
Don;t know where to post my wordle. I like doing wordles & this is my 1st. attempt at the sunday whirl.
The Anton Chekhov quote you’ve chosen is one of my favourites, and important for all writers. Looking forward to participating!
A couple of newbie questions: So I write and post something on my own site and link it here, right? This is fun. I hate to ask this, but are there any copyright issues?
Welcome Gerry…and yes. Link with Mr. Linky. There are no copyright issues that I’m aware of…anytime I use words from someone’s work…they are just words, and I link to the initial piece. If you can think of potential copyright issues, let me know.
Brenda, I was in the middle of writing when my note “went away,” for some reason, so you may get two replies. I wasn’t concerned about the words you use at all; I think it’s fair game to pull words from other sources. I believe I’ll find these exercises really freeing and lots of fun. Thanks!
Thanks – now I get it!
