First time here, came via Magical Mystical Teacher. Like it! So I “gave it a whirl.” Reading others vividly shows indeed I am new.

I finally got one in. A difficult one to write, and to think about.
Memories of loss can be quite profound. They linger longer than we realize. This stirred quite a few, Brenda. Thanks for that nudge.

I wonder why it is that the stuff that comes bubbling up is so often from the distant past? I lived in a beautiful place when I was growing up. I live in a beautiful place now, but the images from my Scottish childhood are the strongest…
I believe, Veronica, that sometimes those long-ago memories want to see the light of day, and so they push themselves ahead in the line and bring their own gifts!

I thought this really good. I gave it the full stars. My only critisism would be the repetition of ‘within’, just at the end. Could miss out the second one and it would still make sense. 🙂

Thanks for the words – I needed some inspiration today.
I wrote some poemlets for the words, as I couldn’t come up with one cohesive piece of writing. I am still experiencing some computer issues. I hope to get round to read others in the next few days. As always thanks for the words, Brenda.

FAMILY GATHERINGS
All of the maps in the world could never trace the narrowing, invisible path to the curvaceous alcoves of my Mother’s kitchen…now a smaller table dressed in lace, and a lazy Susan with a slight warp from the bottles that the babies loved to ricochet with a spin… Flooded memories from my folks’ past starting to dwindle.
Thank you all for the welcoming words. I woke up, had coffee, visited Facebook, and wrote. Now it’s time for more coffee, and some soul food (your words).

Funny you should say that, Elizabeth. I was thinking the same thing. Their usage came to me in an instant. It took a little fiddlin’ to get them in the right order. 🙂
Lol, Paula. Somehow the words seem to suggest an idea, maybe a beginning and an ending, but then, I swear they go silent at that blank space in the middle. I also am fairly certain I can hear them giggling when I get there.
